Our best spots

Postcard-perfect places to enjoy a picnic…

1.

La base de loisirs d’Agos

On foot or by mountain bike from Saint Lary along La Neste, the river that runs through our valley, you’ll reach the base de loisirs d’Agos. It’s the ideal place to spend a romantic or family day with a picnic! You’ll find a fully equipped barbecue and tables.

The Leisure Base stretches along La Neste. You can plan an afternoon at the water’s edge, as you’ll also find a small lake with landscaped, welcoming banks. Don’t hesitate to take advantage of the cool riverbanks where you’ll spot the rafts or kayaks paddling down it. You’ll also find a skate park and a pump track for mountain bikers.

2.

Le moulin de la Mousquère

Located on the road du col d’Azet between the villages of Sailhan and Estensan, around 3 kms from Saint-Lary, you’ll find the moulin de la Mousquère.

Many improvements have recently been made by the commune around the mill: parking, barbecue, public toilets, walking area, picnic area, bread oven, children’s games, ….

You can also discover the educational walk with different themes: birdsong, emblematic animals of the Pyrenees, bees, wood….

You can get there on foot by taking the footpath that links the village of Sailhan to Saint-Lary:from the tourist office take n°1 to the village of Sailhan and the start of n° 7 to the mill. To return, take the end of n° 1 from Sailhan towards Saint Lary.

3.

Le plateau d’Ourtigué et grange d’ Arsoué

Ourtigué and Arsoué are pastoral areas that you can reach from the village of Azet.

Once in Azet follow the Ourtigué direction or route n°8 on our “Balade et Randonnée” map. If you’re a good walker, you can plan to follow trail no. 9 (points 1 to 4) from the village of Saint Lary.

You’ll then discover this pastoral area, which is very pleasant in fine weather, with small streams to cool off in and spend a pleasant moment.

4.

Parcours de Santé de Grézian

On the banks of the Neste, at the foot of the Grézian bridge, ideal for a picnic (barbecue provided) at lunchtime or in the evening. You can take advantage of the fitness trail set up along the river, as well as the “Volcano” pumptrack that will delight mountain bikers.

To get there by car or bike, from Saint Lary follow the signs for Arreau then Bazus-Aure and Grézian. In Grézian you’ll see the bridge over the river, just cross it and you’ll have just after on the left the fitness trail. This place is very shady and pleasant in summer.

 

 

5.

The Louron Valley and Lake Genos

-By car from Saint-Lary, head towards Arreau and then Loudenvielle Génos. You’ll cross the Vallée du Louron follow to Loudenvielle and you’ll see on your left the Lac de Genos.

This lake is great for relaxing, birdwatching, and the scenery is grand on the surrounding peaks.

It’s also an opportunity for a nice stroll around the lake on foot (about 1h) or by mountain bike (signposted mountain bike trails as well) and for enthusiasts you’ll find a pumptrack.

Fun activities like pedalo, paddle or kayak are also possible on the lake. (possibility to rent on site).
